Job Description

Our client, a dynamic and innovative fintech company specializing in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, is on an exciting journey to launch a cutting-edge crypto exchange in Australia. To lead this ambitious venture, we are seeking a skilled and experienced General Manager Australia with a comprehensive skill set.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive GTM plan for our client’s exchange in Australia, in collaboration with the executive management team.
  • Define our client’s value proposition and positioning within the Australian market in coordination with senior stakeholders.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Lead the application process for obtaining necessary regulatory approvals, including a derivatives license, in compliance with Australian regulatory frameworks.
  • Stay updated on evolving cryptocurrency regulations and ensure ongoing adherence to relevant laws.

Operations and Team Management:

  • Build and manage a high-performing team across various functions, including customer support and marketing.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth trading execution and an optimal customer experience while upholding our client’s unique security protocols.

Partnerships and Business Development:

  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including KOLs, market makers, and financial institutions, to support the exchange’s growth and expansion.

Risk Management:

  • Implement risk management strategies to safeguard our client from potential threats, including cybersecurity risks and market volatility, in collaboration with our client’s chief legal officer and chief compliance officer.

Financial Management:

  • Provide input to our client’s global budget and manage the budget for Australian operations, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost control.
  • Monitor financial performance and take corrective actions as needed to achieve business goals.
  • Act as our client’s representative to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and administering derivative product offerings.
  • Experience within a business issuing derivatives, including supervising AFSL compliance and acting as a responsible manager.
  • Experience in managing teams involved in the delivery of such products.
  • A sound comprehension of the global market for the types of derivative products our client will offer.
  • Experience in dealing in derivatives (including as a trader or portfolio manager).
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills with a collaborative and motivational approach.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of building relationships with external stakeholders and regulators.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions in a fast-paced and evolving industry.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a strategic vision for business growth.
